Duffield

Copper CreekDuffield is a great staging ground for your Scott County adventure. The town has all of the essentials you need to stock up on before heading out to explore our unique history and beauty. (Check out the businesses on the bottom right side of this page for more details.) Duffield is also conveniently located along Rte 23, making the town easily accessible from anywhere in the tri-state area.

Of course, Duffield attracts visitors in its own right. Located along the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail, Duffield has been a stopping off point for travelers for centuries. Native Americans called the location "Little Flat Lick," but after Daniel Boone blazed a trail through the wilderness for the Europeans, the new town was renamed in 1818 in honor of Sam Henry Duff who settled the area from North Carolina.

Stop by the Fannon Railroad Museum to see a replica depot that was used in the filming of the movie, “Coal Miner’s Daughter", along with a variety of railroad memorabilia. Other highlights include three stops on the Daniel Boone Birding Trail and proximity to Natural Tunnel State Park. Or mark your calendars for Labor Day weekend to take part in a community festival and parade at Duffield Daze.

With a population of 63 residents, Duffield is the smallest incorporated town in Virginia. The Duffield Industrial Park is located nearby and serves as an industrial center for Scott County.
