Ziegenwald Dairies

Ziegenwald Dairy is owned and operated by John and Andrea Woodworth. Our Farm is located on Possum Creek, near Gate City, in Scott Co. Virginia. We relocated to this area in December of 1993 and bought our first goats in spring of ’94 and have been raising registered alpine goats ever since. In 2008 we attained our Grade A Dairy license which allows us to sell our homestead cheeses. Our Cheeses are made from the milk of only our own animals. We do not use hormones or antibiotics to enhance milk production. We produce a wide variety of goats milk cheeses most of the year. Since goats are seasonal milk producers selection is limited through the winter. We also have quality breeding animals available for anyone who is looking to add to their herd or who is trying to start raising this wonderful breed of goats. Ziegenwald Dairy presents Chevre style goat cheese in the following flavors: garlic/black pepper, chives, dill, garlic dill, basil, basil/garlic, basil/garlic/sun dried tomato, raspberry, strawberry,  mulberry,  apricot and peach. We also sell our chevre plain. Chevre is sold in 4 or 8 oz containers. Feta style goat cheese: We add olive oil to our Feta when packing, it is sold in 6 oz containers. Mozzarella style goat cheese, sold in 8 oz containers, goes great on pizza, lasagna, or on grilled cheese sandwiches. Colby style goat cheese, a semihard cheese that shows off a creamy texture and wonderful flavor. As this cheese ages it becomes sharper. Does not taste like commercially produced Colby. Camembert style goat cheese, available in little wheels of about 7 oz. This cheese has a very short shelf life and therefore is sold directly to the consumer so it can be used without delay. All our cheeses are produced in our dairy and can be purchased on the farm, at farmers markets and by mail.
