Gate City Music Events return for the 2021 season, plus plenty of activities for family fun. The first concert kicks off Sat., July 10, 2021 with Matchbox 2.0 and Hootie & the Brofish, tribute bands to Matchbox Twenty and Hootie and the Blowfish.
In tribute to being able to hold music again, this event is titled “We’re Still Standing,” and is free, with music from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Gate City.
This event will also feature a Cruze-in Car Show, food vendors, and special entertainment by illusionist Joseph Young.
Earlier that day, the Town of Gate City and the Gate City Civitans will present a “Movie in the Park” at Grogan Park, from noon to 9 p.m. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers, inflatables during the day. Bring a picnic basket, blanket and your friends for this family-friendly free event, with a showing of the movie, “Sandlot,” beginning at dusk.
The next Summer Concert event is scheduled for Aug. 7, 5-9 p.m., featuring Asylum Suite and Night Train, a Guns and Roses Cover Band.
The event is free and will also feature a Cruze-in, food vendors Backdraft BBQ and Yum Yum, and the Jenkins School of Dance.
The series ends with “Welcome to the Jungle” on Sept. 4, featuring Borderline, Retroville, Head Games, a Foreigner cover band, plus Jenkins School of Dance. Both Backdraft BBQ and the Yum Yum food trucks will be at the event.
This free event features a $500 Costume Contest for the best “Welcome to the Jungle” costume of the evening.
